About

Hi, I”m Lindsey Allen.

I am not a Social Media expert. I hesitate to class myself as an expert of any topic. But what I am, is an explorer. I see something interesting and I’m curious. The amount of time I explore depends on what I can do with what I see.

In recent years, I have taught Internet-related topics at the University of Texas, Austin Community College, Texas State Government, and a multinational high-tech company, Cadence Systems. Topics have ranged from XHTML, CSS, and Javascript to PHP, MySQL, WordPress, Photoshop, and Digital Photography. All these topics were subjects of exploration. I was not and am not an expert in these topics but I am an explorer.

I propose to continue my explorations by combining my research, reading, and practice of assimilating and combining these and other topics. I hope that I can convince some of you to join me, work and study with me, and share your thoughts both verbally as well as with comments to my blog (exploringnewmedia.com) and Twitter (twitter.com/xplorenewmedia) accounts.

I plan to conduct a monthly meeting presented to a limited number of interested and participating fellow explorers. As it now stands, I intend to conduct daytime meetings (2pm-4pm) near the end of each month at MicroAssist. {PLEASE DO NOT CALL MICROASSIST ABOUT THIS TOPIC. THEY ARE ONLY HOSTING MY MEETING.) Attendance will be limited to no more than 25 participative explorers.

I intend to bring in guest speakers to elaborate on certain topics. If you know of such a person or persons, please share with me and I’ll see if I can schedule them.

Hi Lindsey, Here is a link to an article about backing up Twitter and Facebook posts and government regulations. http://www.govtech.com/gt/articles/738859?elq=815e81c62bf241b7ad194b78919ad4bb
It might be out of scope for the meetings but you might find it interesting.
